Guarding Your Identity: How to Stand Strong Against the Enemy’s Attacks

Hey Y'all!
Lately, I’ve been going through a lot of emotional and spiritual reflection. It’s not always easy to acknowledge, but I’ve been grieving. It’s not necessarily the weight of heavy spiritual battles, but the weight of all that has been lost, shaken, or taken over the years. Grief isn’t just about loss; it’s about feeling the tension between where you are and where you know you’re called to be. Right now, there’s this deep sense of longing for what’s ahead, but also wrestling with what’s here in the present. It’s the grief of transition, when God is moving you from one season to the next, and even the good seasons can leave you feeling unsettled. There’s a mourning for what was, even when what’s coming is better. But in this grief, I’m reminded that the enemy wouldn’t be attacking me so hard if God’s hand wasn’t on me. The more God elevates us, the more the enemy tries to derail us. The enemy is irritated because God is moving me—and using me—in mighty ways (PERIOD). He’s seeing how God is preparing me for the next thing, and that makes him mad. He knows God has a plan for me, and he’s doing everything he can to try to stop it.
Recently, I’ve had to be extra vigilant about testing the spirit of people around me, whether they’re strangers, fellow believers, or even leaders in the different spaces where I serve. Even leaders can be used to distract or misalign your focus. I’ve learned that not everyone who comes in the name of God is aligned with His purpose for me. The Bible tells us to “test the spirits to see whether they are from God” (1 John 4:1), and that’s something I’ve been doing consistently. It’s about staying aware and protecting your heart from influences that might pull you off course.
The enemy knows when you’re about to step into something new, something powerful, and that’s when he’ll try to attack your identity. He wants to make you question who you are and what you’re doing. But guess what? My Father hits harder. Every time the enemy throws a punch, I remind myself that my identity is not up for negotiation. I am a daughter of the Most High, created with purpose, loved beyond measure, and anointed for such a time as this. And no attack from the enemy can change that.
I’ve been grieving the transitions, the seasons of letting go, the unmet expectations, and the good things God is moving me away from. But I’ve learned that God doesn’t move us from one place to another without a purpose. The grief is real, but it’s not a sign of defeat; it’s a sign of growth. God is stretching me, pushing me into the next chapter, even if it means leaving behind things I once thought I’d carry with me forever.
The enemy is irritated because he sees the calling on your life, and he knows that God has something great in store. But here’s the truth: no matter how hard the enemy tries, God’s plan for us will prevail. Every attack just makes us more determined to walk out our calling with boldness. Every moment of doubt is an opportunity for God to show His faithfulness and remind us of who we are in Him.
So, if you’re in a season of transition, if you’re grieving what’s changing in your life, whether it’s the people around you, your expectations, or even the roles you once held, know this: God is using it all to refine you. He is preparing you for what’s next. The enemy might try to attack your identity, but God is building it up stronger than ever.
Every challenge, every moment of doubt, is just an opportunity for God to show His power and love more clearly. You are not forgotten. You are being shaped and prepared for something greater.

Keep trusting. Keep walking in your purpose. Keep standing firm. And know that God’s timing and plan are always worth the wait.
With faith and love,
Chassidy
