Welcome to January, where the air feels crisp with the promise of new beginnings, and our hearts are filled with fresh goals and expectations. There’s something about the start of a new year that makes you feel ready to tackle it all. But let’s be honest, life doesn’t magically slow down just because the calendar resets.
For me, January isn’t just about resolutions; it’s about realignment. It's a season where I look back at how far God has brought me, take inventory of where I’ve been, and prayerfully navigate where He’s calling me next. This year, I kicked things off with fasting and intentional time with God, not because it’s trendy, but because it’s necessary for my soul.
You know how life has a funny way of throwing curveballs just as you’re trying to get serious about your walk with God? One minute, I’m laser-focused on my goals, and the next, I’m juggling finding a job, fasting headaches, gym soreness, and figuring out how to balance it all without losing sight of my relationship with Jesus. Add in abstinent Christian dating, and you’ve got a recipe for feeling stretched thin.
But here’s what I’ve been learning: faithfulness doesn’t mean having it all together, it means showing up for God, no matter what.
Fasting & Faithfulness in a Busy World
This month, I’ve been reflecting on fasting as more than just a practice of abstaining from food or distractions, it’s a practice of surrender. It’s saying, “God, I don’t have all the answers, but I trust You to fill the gaps.” When I feel the urge to over-plan or overthink, fasting brings me back to the simplicity of depending on Him.
The beauty of this season is not in how perfectly we execute our plans, but in how faithfully we remain connected to the One who holds the plans.
Navigating the New Year with Consistency
Consistency is the word God keeps bringing to my heart for 2025. Whether it’s staying consistent in prayer, in the gym, or with this blog, it’s a reminder that small, faithful steps add up over time. But let’s keep it real, it’s not easy. Some days, I feel motivated and unstoppable. Other days, I’m asking God for strength just to get through the basics.
And that’s okay. Consistency isn’t about perfection; it’s about trusting God to carry you when you feel like you’re falling short.
Staying Grounded in God
As we step into this new year, I want to encourage you to:
Start Small: Whether it’s fasting, journaling, or setting goals, focus on what’s manageable instead of overwhelming yourself.
Stay Surrendered: Give God your plans and trust Him to guide your steps.
Seek Community: Surround yourself with people who will encourage you to stay faithful, even on the hard days.
Let’s navigate this year together, leaning into the grace God gives us and staying grounded in His faithfulness.
So, grab your hot cocoa (or coffee if that’s your vibe), and let’s take on January, one step, one prayer, and one moment of surrender at a time.
Here’s to a 2025 filled with consistency, faithfulness, and a whole lot of grace. Let me know in the comments how you’re kicking off this year and how I can pray for you!
With faith and love,
Chassidy
