You Were Never Meant to Walk Alone

Hey Y’all!

Lately, I’ve been reflecting a lot on the power of community. God never intended for us to walk this life alone. From the very beginning, He placed us in families, in tribes, in churches, and in relationships to carry each other, encourage one another, and help each other grow in Him. Scripture says in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!”

This truth is what inspired me to start the DFW Christian Collective. I wanted to create a space where no one has to feel isolated, where we can lift each other up, pray together, and walk life’s journey with intentionality. I wanted a community where, if my sister or brother falls into the well, I can get in there with them, or at the very least, help them out. That’s what it means to walk in authentic Christian community: showing up, being present, and caring deeply for one another.

As I approach three years in Dallas this January, right as I turn 33—my Jesus year—I’ve been reflecting on how much God has surrounded me with the people I need. Jesus Himself modeled community perfectly: He had disciples, friends, and followers with whom He shared life, prayer, teaching, and encouragement. Even in His calling, He did not walk alone. He had a community to lean on, to teach, to grow with, and to pour into. I love thinking about that because it reminds me that God never designed us for isolation; we’re meant to journey together, just like Jesus did.

Over the past year, I’ve been so amazed at how God has grown this ministry. We started small, but God has been faithful. From just a handful of people at our first Hike & Heal gatherings to now hosting hundreds, His hand is evident. I’ve met some of you personally, and many more I’ve seen join as a big group, and I want you to know I appreciate every single one of you. Every person who has attended events, even if just once, has added to this community, has added to the love, encouragement, and support that makes this space special. We’ve even had nonbelievers, atheists, and Muslims reach out after seeing a hike on TikTok. I’m not sure if they ever attend, but I know God has connected them to the right people and met them exactly where they are.

Community is not just a “nice to have.” It’s essential. We need one another to stay accountable, encouraged, and spiritually strong. When we walk together, we reflect God’s love in action. And when someone is struggling, we can be the hands and feet of Jesus in their life. I am so grateful for this community, it’s made my transition to Dallas smooth, joyful, and full of God’s grace.

If you’ve been feeling alone, or like you don’t have a place to belong, I want to personally invite you to join our community. Come as you are. We welcome everyone looking for connection, even nonbelievers. Be encouraged, be challenged, and experience what it means to be supported by a family of people who truly care.
